This asphalt highway’s taken me far as I wanna go
Sign says you can walk a bridge down to a swamp of Tupelo
In Jackson Mississippi I found no place to rest
Round and round that city to a rendezvous with death
When a heart cries out for a quiet place
Time to take a walk in the woods off the Natchez Trace

Way down in a churchyard, kneeling by the broken stones
