Joseph’s Song
He put on his coat, went out one day
A coat of many colors that his father had made
He had some brothers who were jealous of it
They took poor Joseph and threw him in a pit, but
CHORUS:
God was his friend when they cast him away
He went from prison to a palace in just one day
Though his brothers hadn’t done what they should
What they meant for evil, God meant for good
They showed their father his colored coat
They had dipped it in the blood of a goat
Their father thought a beast killed him
But they had sold him down to Egypt
CHORUS
He wound up in prison ‘cause of Potiphar’s wife
God showed him favor and blessed his life
A butler dreamed of wine, A baker dreamed of bread
God showed Joseph what their dreams meant, cause
CHORUS
Two years later Pharaoh had strange dreams
The butler said “Joseph will know what they mean!”
Seven years plenty and seven years drought
Joseph was made ruler when he spelled it out
CHORUS
He stored up grain in the years that were good
In famine his brothers came, wanting food
Joseph the ruler, welcomed them in
His father and his brothers and all the children!
CHORUS
